2017 Sixth Mission Trip
2017 MISSION TRIP
October 2017
ACHIEVEMENTS
- Built another classroom to accommodate a student population that has grown from 8 to 70+.
- Evaluated the rental of two additional farms strictly for the support of the school lunch program. These farms were a success.
- Continued the tradition of planning, funding snd conducting a vacation bible school at Naomi’s Village.
- Evaluated the progress of the ten farms that were started up this year with the goal of making student’s families more self sufficient. Decision was made to discontinue the farms in the lower section due to climate, zebra /mole indfestation, and transportation problems. More research will be conducted before moving forward.
- Evaluated last year’s apartment project that was constructed to pay for the operating costs of the school… including teacher pay and supplies. The project turned out to be a major success so the team is researching the possibility of adding four more apartments as the main project for next year’s mission trip.
- Evaluated the successes of the Grant Application programs to supplement the feeding program. More food is needed to support an increasing student population. The JCAP team committed to exploring grants that included serious sustainability elements.
- Visited families and talked with teachers/director to determine student and school needs/priorities.
